Fairy Aid Services

These are examples of the sort of ways that Fairy Aid (Rachel Mackay) may be able to help you :-

DE-CLUTTERING

…can be a real headache but with Fairy Aid’s clear eye and practical mindset, it can be as easy as pie.

While some would say clutter is rubbish and must be simply dumped, Fairy Aid recognises that you may have collected stuff for years and it may well have a special meaning for you. So de-cluttering Fairy Aid-style is sensitive, considerate and most of all, effective.

TIDYING

…is Fairy Aid’s favourite thing, along with sorting. She loves nothing more than leaving a place cleaner and tidier than she found it. She’s waves her magic wand over fridges, freezers, garages, attics/lofts, airing cupboards, pantries, wardrobes, drawers. There’s nowhere too muddled for Fairy Aid to step in!

PREPARING TO MOVE HOUSE

…is high on the list of top stress factors, but with Fairy Aid’s practical, sensible and experienced eye, making sense of what to leave and what to give away is straightforward. She will help with labelling, colour coding rooms and sorting which items should be moved first. And she’ll be on hand to help pack personal items, organise the paper work and make sure vital pick-ups and deliveries are successful.

UNPACKING AND ORGANISING IN YOUR NEW HOME

… you want nothing more than a cup of tea and a sit-down but your world is upside down. When your energy is flagging, Fairy Aid will arrive fresh and full of energy to help you to organise your belongings, figure out what needs to be done now and what can wait and make sure you start out feeling comfortable and relaxed in your new habitat.

DOWNSIZING

…can be as stressful as simply moving, but with the added agony of having to trim back your belongings. Fairy Aid will help you to be sensible, practical and efficient – no squeezing a quart into a pint pot for her! With a tape measure and a pragmatic view of what will work for you, she’ll make the whole process smarter, simpler and easy on the nerves.

CLEARING AFTER A BEREAVEMENT

…marks the end of an era and can be heartbreaking for close family and friends or hard going for an unrelated third party. While Fairy Aid finds this often very moving and sad, she finds being practical and logical is the best way to help achieve a successful outcome, without treading on emotional toes.

COMPANIONSHIP

… is one of the aspects of her job Fairy Aid enjoys most. It’s a huge part of what she does and she has developed lovely friendships with many of her clients. Isolation and loneliness can creep into your life, especially as you grow older or become less mobile than you’d like, so Fairy Aid is happy to provide an antidote. She understands that just being able to talk to someone and feel listened to is sometimes more important than anything else, and she is genuinely interested in people and their lives, and their stories. She makes regular visits to clients in residential care homes and some she takes for lovely country drives.

ORGANISING

… is Fairy Aid’s middle name. Whether it’s the wardrobe where you can never find what you need, the pantry with plenty of food but nothing you want to eat, the workshop where the hardest work is finding some space, Fairy Aid will roll up her sleeves and bring order to chaos. She can even sort out that yellowing pile of paperwork you can neither throw away nor tidy up – just watch her whip through it!

RE-ARRANGING

… is perhaps another version of organising, but it can bring light into a dark study, or comfort into a too-busy lounge. While you may only see the problem, Fairy Aid, with her practical pinny on, will see the solutions and help you to reach them.

RE-CONFIGURING SPACES

… works when simply organising or rearranging is not enough. You may be an artist and or have an ever-expanding hobby which demands too much space or you may simply have realised that the spare bedroom just doesn’t work as your office any more. Fairy Aid will help you to separate out what is purely archiveable, semi-archiveable and then what is truly redundant and identify what needs to be accommodated and how. She has a magical way of finding more space than you thought you had!

LIGHT GARDENING

.. is music to Fairy Aid’s ears. She’ll roll up her little sleeves and work through the weeding, planting, and then pruning when the time is right. You won’t catch her with a chain-saw or a lawn-mower but her light touch can help turn a wilderness into an oasis.

COOKING

… can be one chore too many if you’ve just been discharged from hospital, say, or have been stricken by a bug or are just too busy or tired to cook. Let Fairy Aid come in and make you a hearty meal or two, or pack your freezer with goodies to tempt an ailing appetite. You choose the food, Fairy Aid whisks it up in your kitchen, with flair and confidence and a minimum of fuss.

ADMIN, PAPERWORK, BILL MANAGEMENT

... can lead to sleepless nights if they’re not up to scratch, so let Fairy Aid help. She brings all her organising skills plus a large helping of common sense to your bear on whatever muddle you may be in. Her cool head and practical approach mean she can simply and sensibly devise a system that will work for you and banish your admin headaches for good.

SHOPPING

… is not always retail therapy – sometimes it’s just one job too many when you’re already overwhelmed or when, for whatever reason, you’re running on empty. Fairy Aid is a reliable stand-in for you and will make sure you have what you need, when you need it.

DRIVING TO APPOINTMENTS

…when a taxi doesn’t quite fit the bill, Fairy Aid will drive you to any appointment within a 10-mile radius. She has a clean driving licence and will accompany you to your appointment and make sure you get home safe either in her car or yours.

HOME PARTIES

… ought to be fun fun fun but are sometimes pure hard work. Fairy Aid’s experience of working in the catering business is a boon here. Whether it’s for a party of six six-year-olds or sixty-year-olds Fairy Aid brings a cool calm professional approach to whatever party you’re hosting. She will shop, cook, flower-arrange, lay up tables, serve and pour drinks, endlessly wash up and make sure your home is shipshape once the guests leave.
